Sophie Swingler

is a BFA Acting student at The University of Alabama. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Sophie is a mixed-race actress of Asian and European descent now based in the Southeast. She is AEA Eligible and works across both theatre and film.

Sophie has performed in more than 30 musicals and plays, with favorite roles including Julia in 1984, Iris in Still Life with Iris, and Portia in Something Rotten. Theatre has given her a strong foundation as a performer, and she also loves the energy, creativity, and collaboration of being on set.

This past summer, Sophie studied screen acting at LAMDA in London, expanding her work in film and television. Her on-camera experience includes a lead role in a student-produced TV pilot, several student short films, and work as an On-Camera Principal in educational videos for Imagine Learning.

Sophie is drawn to stories that are heartfelt, honest, and full of memorable characters. With a curious mind, quick wit, and a lively presence, she brings sharpness and spontaneity to the characters she plays.
